Can couture exist without a runway? At Hyundai India Couture Week 2026 presented by the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), in association with Nexxus New York, Tarun Tahiliani made a compelling case that it can. Trading the conventional runway for an immersive presentation at New Delhi’s historic Bikaner House, the designer invited guests to experience Navaratan through a series of thoughtfully curated spaces. The title Navaratan, meaning “nine gems” in Sanskrit, formed the foundation of the presentation. Spread across nine rooms, the collection unfolded as a sequence of distinct yet interconnected stories, each highlighting a different facet of the House of Tarun Tahiliani. Multimedia installations and projection mapping added atmosphere without overwhelming the garments, allowing every embroidered motif, textile and silhouette to remain the focal point. The result felt less like a fashion show and more like stepping inside the designer’s creative process.
With Navaratna, Tarun Tahiliani once again reaffirmed the design philosophy that has defined his house for over three decades. Rooted in his “India Modern” vision, the collection balanced traditional Indian craftsmanship with contemporary construction. Fluid drapes, sharply tailored separates, sculptural lehengas with meticulously hand-embroidered details showcased the house’s ability to evolve while remaining unmistakably its own. Rather than chasing trends, the collection reinforced why Tahiliani continues to shape conversations around modern Indian couture.
