Q: Tell us something about your career and journey.
A: Actually, I started my career late after my children grew up. I started the label two years ago, pursuing my passion for fashion that has always been there. The journey till now has been amazing and now that my children can look after themselves I can really focus on the career.
Q: What was your inspiration behind this collection?
A: I’d say the collection is inspired by my daughter. The collection is creatively influenced and developed by my daughter. Each silhouette reflects the many moods of women, and every piece is designed to complement a woman’s beauty.
Q: Which silhouette is your favourite from this collection?
A: The quintessential lehenga is my favourite. But, I always prefer adding a little edge to it with dramatic tassels and feathers.
Q: How do you blend contemporary style into ethnic wear?
A: As I said, you can give it a dramatic dimension playing with elements. Ruffles and frills are very romantic. You can play with contemporary pastel colours and always top it off with a little drama.
Q: Your most favourite look of a celebrity in a Rebecca Dewan outfit?
A: I’d pick Sushmita Sen as she was my first showstopper. I still have to beat that vision. She just owned the ramp and looked flawless!
Q: Tell us about your upcoming collection and future plans.
A: My upcoming collection is called the Mystic Nuah. In sync with the upcoming season for New Year’s Eve and Christmas, there’s a lot of blingy fun and constructed garments for western looks of the season.
Q: Any style tips for wedding parties?
A: I’d say it is important to be comfortable in what you’re wearing and always give an exciting nod to the attire with blingy or feathery or tasselled accents so that you stand out.
Q: How do you feel about showcasing at The Bridal Collective at Pernia’s Pop-Up Studio today?
A: I’m really excited to be here today to showcase at The Bridal Collective. Pernia’s Pop-Up Studio at Kala Ghoda is a beautiful store with a large space situated right in the heart of the city. It’s amazing to be a part of it.
Q: Any celebrity you love dressing up or would love to dress up in future?
A: My dream is to dress Kareen Kapoor Khan. I’m looking forward to doing that soon!
