Sheer capes, sultry necklines, scintillating silhouettes and more – India Couture Week 2025 was a gala of all things dynamic and dramatic. But the runway trends that caught our eye? Read on for the most arrestive statements for this wedding season we spotted.

This year, Hyundai India Couture Week brought the most riveting lineup of design excellence to Taj Palace, New Delhi under glimmering lights. Amongst few of the most eminent names were industry mavens, Tarun Tahiliani, JJ Valaya, Jayanti Reddy, Shantnu & Nikhil, Aisha Rao and Roseroom by Isha Jajodia.
The event, an initiative by FDCI (Fashion Design Council of India), changed the rules of the usual runway showcases in the country, as the designers exhibited theatrical couture that featured complex craftsmanship and reinvented silhouettes. From hooded gowns to captivating corsets and more, the pieces demonstrated stentorious structure and surreal visuals. The collections not only exhibited the country’s undying craftsmanship but also made a strong case for the changing traditions in modern weddings with new-age couture. Here are some of the trends First Look spotted for the brides and grooms of the season, who are looking forward to curating the most jaw-dropping wardrobe.

Nouveau Florals
Florals and fashion have been like two peas in a pod since eternity, adorning ball gowns to sun dresses. But at India Couture Week 2025, the much loved blooms got a whole new look. Revered designers Aisha Rao and Jayanti Reddy showcased an array of fresh looks. While Aisha Rao’s chic and contemporary cactus motifs added that extra edge with flattering silhouettes and metallic textiles, Jayanti Reddy paired her floral embroideries with sequins in a range of sharara sets and sarees. The designers’ new spin on the popular motifs offered a fresh perspective on wedding couture that is in sync with today’s sensibilities.

Accented Layers
Capes and jackets are more than just clothing; they are like functional accessories that can amp up any look when styled with taste. From short jackets to long heavily embellished capes, the collections by Aisha Rao, Roseroom by Isha Jajodia and Jayanti Reddy featured high-on-glamour layers. While Jayanti Reddy and Roseroom presented looks with separate throw-ons, Aisha Rao, at the same time, showcased sleeves that flowed all the way to the floor. Opting for layers as such not only adds more gravity to the whole look but is also an excellent way to add a global appeal to an otherwise traditional outfit.

Captivating Corsets
Structured, chic and dramatic – corsets are having a major comeback this season. At India Couture Week 2025, labels like Roseroom by Isha Jajodia and Jayanti Reddy proved the centuries-old silhouette can still be reinvented to fit the modern bride’s wardrobe. While Roseroom restored the corsets’ Victorian charm with chantilly lace and delicate beading, Jayanti Reddy brought the best of traditional craftsmanship with a rich bridal colour palette consisting of deep purples and red. The corsets seen on the runway showcased a sensational confluence of contemporary design and time-tested tailoring, making them unmissable investment pieces for weddings.

Fits of the Future
On the fifth day of India Couture Week, celebrated designer duo, Shantnu & Nikhil charmed the crowd with their collection, Metropolis – a futuristic lineup of looks that not only reinvented classic silhouettes but also challenged the norm for men’s fashion. Inspired by military tailoring, desert traditions and regal ensembles of ancient India, Metropolis presented elevated pieces for the modern groom and his crew. Some of the elements that made the designs stand out include pearls, ruffles, sequins, pin stripes and lots of layering! From reimagined tuxedos to cropped bandhgalas, contemporary sherwanis and kurta sets, the collection exhibited tactful yet dramatic statement pieces, an exemplification of new-age sartorial dynamism.
