The World of Rianta’s

Founded in 2016 by the visionary designer Rianta Chakraborty, RIANTA’s was born out of a daring leap of faith and a deep passion to redefine bridal elegance with a focus on soft hues, delicate craftsmanship, and a celebration of individuality. In this exclusive interview, Rianta Chakraborty takes us through her inspiring journey, the challenges she faced, and the artistry that defines her brand’s signature style.

FL: What inspired the founding of RIANTA’s, and how has the brand evolved since its inception in 2016?

RC: When I was a bride-to-be, I browsed through the bridal market and noticed a prevalence of dark tones, with most designs following the same colour palette of typical reds and maroons. These heavy shades did not resonate with my personality, and I felt a need for something that would allow a bride to feel closer to her identity. Our pieces are designed to be both intricate and elegant. The garments are crafted to be heavy in craftsmanship yet soft and dainty in appearance. By focusing on this unique blend, we strive to offer bridal wear that elevates and complements the bride’s individuality, ensuring she feels truly special on her big day.

FL: Can you describe the unique design elements and craftsmanship that define RIANTA’s collections?

RC: RIANTA’S collections are defined by exquisite embroidery on Kalidar lehengas and sarees. A hallmark of our brand is the luxurious Zardosi work, intricately embedded with pearls and crystals. This meticulous embroidery, crafted on premium fabrics such as pure raw silk, silk taffeta, and metallic georgette, ensures a rich and luxurious finish.

FL: Could you tell us more about the inspiration behind your latest collection?

RC: The inspiration behind our latest collection is rooted in the essence of a delicate era, embodying a sense of softness, youthful innocence, and understated elegance. Each garment is designed with a dainty, modest, and profoundly feminine touch. From my perspective, a bride should retain her whimsical charm and femininity, feeling both youthful and radiant. Our collection reflects this philosophy, ensuring that every piece resonates with the emotional journey of a bride-to-be, embracing her natural essence and celebrating her femininity with grace and beauty.

FL: What challenges have you faced in establishing Rianta’s as a luxury fashion brand?

RC: One of the major tasks was positioning the brand within the luxury market. This required an in-depth study of the market to identify gaps that other fashion brands were not addressing. It took us three years to gain acceptance and recognition from our audience, focusing on creating pieces that would resonate with them. Quality has always been the cornerstone of Rianta’s. Synchronising the efforts of our large production team to maintain this standard was a significant task, but it’s essential in order to maintain our quality.

FL: Can you share a memorable experience or milestone that has shaped the brand’s journey?

RC: One of the most memorable milestones in RIANTA’s journey has been the opening of our flagship store in Gurgaon. This particular achievement feels surreal, considering we started with just a handful of people in a small setup. It symbolises how far we’ve come from our humble beginnings and represents the hard work and dedication that have gone into building RIANTA’s. The acceptance and positive response we have received over the years have been incredibly gratifying. Witnessing the love and appreciation for my designs has validated my decision to leave a corporate job. The satisfaction I feel when a bride-to-be chooses one of our pieces is priceless.

As RIANTA’s continues to evolve, expanding its offerings to include a thoughtfully curated men’s collection, the brand remains steadfast in its commitment to quality and innovation. Beyond her creative genius, Rianta’s brand is built on the values of gratitude and collaboration, ensuring that every member of her team is celebrated for their contribution. As she continues to draw inspiration from art, culture, and her personal life, Rianta’s designs remain a powerful expression of modern femininity, elegance, and individuality. Her journey is a reminder that true success comes from following one’s passion, embracing change, and creating with purpose.
