The Return to Beauty

Embrace colours and the spirit of celebrations as Hope rewrites the fashion book this new year.

Designer Anand Bhushan decodes the perfect summer look as he tells us how the relaxed look of the pandemic is making way for a more structured look, a nod to lives and wardrobes being reorganised. The award- winning Delhi-based designer shares the key ingredients driving the edgy contemporary wear of his namesake label. As we move away from morbidity to court textures, softness and allure, we welcome the new age of romance.

FL: What do you think are going to be the operative words in fashion in 2023?

AB: Celebration, travel, and a time to reflect.

FL: What styles are consumers likely to bid farewell to and what are the ones they are likely to hold on to or embrace?

AB: Finally coming out of a global pandemic, the world will embrace a more celebratory look. The relaxed look is being skipped in favour of a more structured and textured look. Reflective surfaces make a comeback this season.

FL: What are some of the silhouettes, palettes, and themes that are going to define Summer 2023 wardrobes?

AB: Diverse travel inspirations, high-octane evening glamour, and old-world elegance. Softer colour palettes accented with dark hues. Metallics make a comeback this season with new techniques.

FL: Define the fashion mood at Anand Bhushan this new year – in what we hope is going to be annus mirabilis?

AB: Return to beauty. Morbid and sorrow themes have been put to rest at Anand Bhushan, assuring that in the midst of the mourning and cynicism of the past, there exists a nostalgic escape. The shapes are clean and streamlined as a new, mature Anand Bhushan woman emerges.

FL: Three key influences or sentiments that drive the edgy, contemporary wear of your brand?

AB: Exploration of new techniques and materials. A soft and refined look. Creating hanger-friendly pieces for women with a reserved style sense.

FL: A key wardrobe piece that is worth investing in this summer?

AB: A beautiful silk organza sheer coat with our signature Anand Bhushan surface texture.

FL: What tips would you like to give to get the summer look right?

AB: Embrace colour this season. Our desire to wear black can be accented in pieces with embroidery. It’s time to return to beauty and celebration.
