The Best Met Gala Tailoring Moments Ever

The Met Gala, a.k.a. fashion’s Oscars, is the sartorial world’s favourite fundraiser. The 2025 Met Gala theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” is meant to be an expression of Black dandyism. The exhibition is inspired by the 2009 book “Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity” by Monica L. Miller and will focus on the evolution of tailoring and style in relation to the formation of Black identities.

This year, the limelight is shifting away from the usual slew of couture gowns and instead embracing the refined world of tailor-made perfection. While we wait to see how the first Monday of May’s evening unfolds, revisit past looks that align with the 2025 theme.
