FL: Your designs often reflect a beautiful blend of traditional Indian aesthetics with modern sensibilities. Could you share specific aspects of Indian culture or history that consistently inspire your collections?
AM: I draw inspiration from the rich heritage of India along with our history in art and architecture. Mirrors have been an integral part of Indian textiles for centuries. They add opulence, glamour, and vibrancy to my designs, reflecting light and enhancing visual appeal. They celebrate traditional craftsmanship and the transformative power of self-reflection. In a fashion landscape dominated by heavy embroidery, borders and sequins, mirrors set my designs apart, offering a unique aesthetic that combines tradition with contemporary flair.
FL: Many admire the intricate work and detailing in your designs. What particular techniques or craftsmanship are quintessential to your creations, and how do you innovate within these techniques to bring a fresh perspective to your work?
AM: Intricacy is a crucial aspect of our designs. Innovation comes through a delicate dance of tradition and modernity. I explore new embellishments, experiment with fabric combinations, and push the boundaries of conventional techniques to bring a fresh and contemporary perspective to my pieces.
FL: Your designs are recognised for their vibrant colours and stunning mirror work. What drove you to emphasise these elements, and how do they represent your design philosophy?

AM: Vibrancy and mirror work embody the soul of my design philosophy. Colours reflect the joy and celebration ingrained in Indian culture, while mirror work adds a touch of regal elegance. This emphasis stems from my belief in creating pieces that not only showcase the richness of tradition but also exude timeless charm. It’s a harmonious blend, symbolising the vibrancy of life and the enduring allure of classic craftsmanship.
FL: Your collections seem to draw inspiration from various regions in India. Could you elaborate on how regional influences play a role in shaping your designs and the stories you aim to convey through your creations?
AM: Regional influences are the heartbeats of my designs, weaving a tapestry of diverse stories. Each region in India carries its unique cultural narrative, inspiring intricate details in my creations. Whether it’s the opulence of Banarasi weaves or the vibrant hues of Rajasthan, these influences transcend fashion. They become stories, tales of tradition, and cultural nuances meticulously incorporated into each piece, ensuring my collections echo the rich heritage and diverse beauty of our incredible country.
FL: Your collaborations with Bollywood celebrities have been well-received. How do they influence your design process, and how do you ensure the designs reflect both your brand and the personality of the celebrity?
AM: Collaborations with celebrities bring a fusion of glamour and tradition. It’s crucial to blend the celebrity’s style with our brand’s ethos. At the same time, these collaborations infuse freshness into my designs, creating a harmonious balance that reflects both the celebrity’s personality and the brand’s essence.
FL: Can you identify any specific pieces or collections in your portfolio that you consider iconic or particularly representative of your style?
AM: Each collection is a labour of love, making it challenging to single out one. From the opulence of the “Tara Sitara” collection to the intricate details in “Dilbar,” every piece holds a special place. They’re not just designs – they’re chapters of my creative journey, each contributing to the tapestry of my evolving style. It’s the collective effort that makes them iconic.
FL: Given the growing emphasis on sustainability in fashion, how does your brand incorporate eco-friendly practices or ethical considerations in your design and production processes?
AM: Sustainability is integral. We source eco-friendly materials and prioritise ethical practices. From reducing waste in production to promoting fair labour, every step is a conscious effort to ensure our creations align with the growing importance of sustainable fashion.
FL: Your design aesthetics have evolved over time. Can you share pivotal moments or experiences that have contributed to this evolution, and how they’ve shaped your brand identity?
AM: My evolution as a designer involves a constant pursuit of innovation. Over the years, I’ve embraced new techniques, experimented with diverse materials, and honed my ability to translate cultural richness into timeless fashion.

AM: Customer resonance is paramount. I stay connected through feedback, understanding their desires and aspirations. Interactions with clients, their stories, and the emotional connection they forge with my creations influence my design choices profoundly. It’s a symbiotic relationship – I weave their dreams into my designs, ensuring each piece not only reflects my signature style but also resonates with the hearts of those who wear them.
FL: In an industry where trends evolve rapidly, how do you balance staying true to your signature style while embracing new trends and staying relevant in the fashion market?
AM: Staying true to my signature style is very important to me. Embracing trends is sometimes necessary; however, I incorporate elements that complement my aesthetic, ensuring my designs evolve without losing their essence. It’s about finding the balance between timelessness and trendiness.
FL: What future endeavours or initiatives do you envision for the growth and expansion of your brand? Are there any new design directions or untapped inspirations you plan to explore in your upcoming collections?
AM: We have some very exciting collaborations lined up for next year along with more focus on occasion wear and resort wear. We’re also going to be focusing on our footwear and accessories with NEEDLEDUST, which is a global rollout, as well as on jewellery, while expanding our collections.
FL: As a creative individual, you might face instances when you find yourself in a creative block. How do you overcome that and get back on track?
AM: Creative blocks are challenges to overcome. Stepping back, immersing myself in art, and seeking inspiration from diverse sources rejuvenate my creativity. It’s about finding beauty in simplicity and allowing the creative flow to return organically.
FL: Do you have any style advice for the brides-to-be and grooms-to-be in this upcoming wedding season?
AM: My suggestion to brides and grooms is to embrace their individuality. Choose outfits that resonate with your personality, ensuring your wedding attire becomes a cherished reflection of yourself.
