Trend Report: Top trends from Fashion Month

The Fashion month of 2019 is officially a thing of the past! Twice a year during ‘fashion month’, every fashion lover gets ready to leave the past behind, and looks forward to everything new in the world of fashion. Starting from New York Fashion Week to London Fashion Week, Milan Fashion Week and ending with Paris Fashion Week, the shows influence every fashion decision we make and everything we wear for the next six months. After vicariously living through Instagram stories, adjusting our timings and sleep patterns to catch every show, trying to decipher the interpretations of every collection, and taking screenshots of outfits to embrace, we can now finally take a deep breath and review the trends.

Spring-Summer 2020 gave us diverse styles to look forward to! From ruffled elements to embellished jackets, we uncover the standout trends seen on the runways this year and show you how you can add the trend to your closet, whether you prefer western wear or ethnic outfits.

Dare Denim

Of course, denim as the uncomplicated and everyday fabric it is will always be ‘trendy’; but this season it gets a makeover. Fashion month has given us an artsy and re-imagined version of the trend, where head-to-toe denim outfits, styles with fringes and frills added to them and pieces embellished with extra details are here to make us stand-out in a humble way.

Discover more about the trend here and how to style it, in our article The Art of Denim.

Romantic Ruffles

It’s really a sigh of relief to know that the ‘extra’ look is not going anywhere. Ruffles and frills were and are still the fashion world’s darlings. For the upcoming festive season, this trend is a must-have. The trend will be seen on all sorts of silhouettes and in diverse styles. Minimal silhouettes can take a backseat and we can all focus on the artful and flirty vibe ruffles lend to our look.

Flower Child

From statement floral prints to ditsy prints; this trend is somewhere in the middle of a Boho style and a Psychedelic style. There’s a hint of seventies fashion with a mix of eclectic colours and mesmeric prints. This is definitely my favourite trend, as even while incorporating even a hint of the trend, it’s almost impossible to have a boring look. Prints by Radhika is a label who aces the trend with their silhouettes and their use of colours. Two other favourites are Masaba and Gopi Vaid

Neon Pop

Invariably, Neon has always been a bit of a controversial trend. It’s garnered true lovers, intimated admirers and extreme trolls all at the same time; nonetheless, every few seasons, we see the trend buzzing again. From what we’ve observed during the spring-summer 2020 shows, Neon Pop is here to stay! Think bright and saturated hues in simple and flowy silhouettes.

Embellished Jackets

If you are anything like, you will love this trend. I believe Jackets are essential is everyone’s closet and you just can’t have enough. They can elevate the most basic outfits. This season embellished jackets are making waves and are street-style favourites. Paired with basics or as contrasting elements to evening wear, the embellished jacket trend is sure to help you shine through the season.

Bobo Calcutta in Its Own Language

May 14, 2026

In Bobo Calcutta’s world, fashion resists definition. Instead, it exists as an instinctive confluence of all things close to art and identity.
