Momentous wedding affairs of our stars

From the monumental royal wedding to big fat Bollywood weddings and other nuptials that created a flutter, 2018 witnessed a slew of weddings of prominent personalities.  While these soul-stirring weddings sure broke the internet, the power couples raised the bar with their noteworthy style choices for the D-day!

Meghan Markle & Prince Harry

The world witnessed a visionary fairytale when the Duke and Duchess of Sussex said: “I Do”. Meghan arrived with a timeless yet flamboyant demeanour as a bride donning a bespoke long train gown by Givenchy created by British designer Clare Waight Keller. The open bateau neckline accented her shoulders while the painstakingly designed 15 ft. long veil featured flora of each of the 53 Commonwealth countries and Queen Mary’s diamond bandeau headpiece added to the glory. The innately suave, Prince Harry wore the Blues and Royals military uniform as a homage to his old regiment.

Deepika Padukone & Ranveer Singh

A power couple in a true sense, both in reel and real life, Deepika & Ranveer had a dream wedding in Italy. The connoisseur designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee created a traditionally rooted design for both of them with quintessential red attire for the Anand Karaj ceremony and immaculate white ensembles for the traditional Konkani wedding. Along with handcrafted jewellery by Sabyasachi again for both of them, the hand-embroidered text Sada Saubhagyavati Bhava on Deepika’s dupatta made it extra special.

Rose Leslie & Kit Harington

Fans were taken by surprise when the Game of Thrones co-stars tied a knot at a picture-perfect wedding in Scotland this year. Rose walked down the aisle in a finely customized lace gown by Elie Saab accessorized by a floral crown which matched her bouquet and a traditional long veil. The groom Kit Harington rocked his formal look with a pair of striped grey pants teamed with a black jacket and a cream vest.

Neha Dhupia & Angad Bedi

The wedding news came out as a pleasant surprise when the couple took the plunge in a private affair. Neha Dhupia ditched the traditional red and picked a pastel pink hued Anita Dongre lehenga teamed with fine jewellery by the designer for the day wedding while Angad Bedi chose a white sherwani teamed with crushed pink dupatta and a pale pink turban for their Anand Karaj ceremony. Anita Dongre kept it minimal and timeless for both the actors.

Diipa Khosla & Oleg E.H. Büller

Ace blogger Diipa Khosla got hitched with her longtime Amsterdam-based bae Oleg at a big fat Indian wedding hosted in Udaipur. Diipa adorned a classic velvet maroon lehenga ensemble by Sabyasachi accessorized with Amrapali Jewels for the pheras while Oleg donned a Varun Bahl bespoke sherwani for their traditional Indian wedding. Diipa was dressed in an Ashi Studio couture gown and Oleg picked a Bogi Milano tuxedo suit for their European ceremony.

Priyanka Chopra & Nick Jonas

Desi girl Priyanka married American heartthrob singer Nick at a lavish wedding hosted with an amalgam of both the cultures. Priyanka adorned a vibrant folksy Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla attire while Nick complemented her in an aqua kurta for the mehendi. The designers gave Priyanka a luminous look with a golden and silver saree and a midnight blue sherwani for the groom for their sangeet. Visionary bride Priyanka adorned a custom-made Ralph Lauren gown and Nick sported a custom Purple Label tux when they exchanged vows at a traditional Christian wedding.

Isha Ambani & Anand Piramal

Unquestionably the grandest wedding of 2018, prominent personalities from around the world gathered at Antilla to grace the royal wedding of Isha Ambani and Anand Piramal. The Ambani heiress adorned a custom-made off-white lehenga ensemble by Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla and paired it with her mother’s 35-year old bridal panetar saree. Anand co-ordinated his look with her in a beige sherwani. The bride sported a classic gold and ivory combination throughout the festivities, including her note-worthy choices of Giambattista Valli lehenga for her arrival lunch and a Valentino ensemble for the reception soiree.

If you’re tying a knot this year, inspire your wedding look from these star-studded affairs.
