Here’s six ways to beat the heat in style

As summer slowly sets in, and the days get longer and warmer, our wardrobes face a yearly challenge. Walking out into muggy, hot and humid weather can be a miserable and stifling affair. Unfortunately, we are fresh out of magic wands that can be waved around the air, in hopes of the wintry winds of December, and our wardrobes must adapt. Take the sweltering heat in your stride, and pick out anti-fit silhouettes that move away from the body, stock up on breathable fabrics, and pick out neutral tones that reflect the heat instead of absorbing it, and let you stay cool. In order to help you win the fight against the soaring humidity, here are six pieces to glide on this summer.

Tuning the heat

Neutral’s aren’t boring, and the best way to wear them is to pile the prints on! This tunic from Torani flaunts a botanical print on a beige chanderi fabric. We approve the knee-grazing hemline, and the way the tunic hugs the bust and then falls away from the body. You can’t go wrong with this one.

A midi state of mind

If you’re on the hunt for the perfect midi dress for this season, we’re here for your rescue. This white and grey dress from Irabira with its hand embroidered flowers is a sure winner. The striped handloom south cotton fabric keeps things interesting, while the coral tassels add an ace accent.

Keep it to-gather

We’re swooning over this melon gathered skirt from Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna’s latest collection. We can as easily imagine it with a classic white shirt, as with a slinky crop top. Take this skirt from work to play, and pair it with a neutral colour to make the peachy melon hue pop.

Jump right into it

Slip on this jumpsuit as you dash towards that breakfast meeting, or catch up with friends on a Sunday brunch. Who said white is boring? We make our case with this organic poplin jumpsuit from Abhi Singh. Don’t miss the sultry slits at the shoulder and the cuffs; it’s what makes this jumpsuit one of our favourites.

Drape it on

A saree is never a bad idea. This geometric hand blocked monochrome piece by Silkwaves is a dream woven in cotton. Move over the blouse, and pair this with a white bandeau crop top, or a white shirt nipped at the waist. The seven yards has never failed us, and we’re sure you would say the same.
