From a Tale of the Long-Lived Times

We often imagine the style aesthetic of the regal times as elaborate and fancy. But, it was the elegant choices of her highness of Jaipur Rajmata Gayatri Devi that conquered her the title of a style icon of her time. Minimalistic but charm oozing, her appearances are so timeless that it could serve as a prominent style inspiration even after decades from now. Encompassing ethnicity with understated elegance, her trademark pastel chiffon sarees made her an eternal epitome of beauty. Her way of accessorizing these classic sarees with layered pearl necklaces or emerald jewels, her dainty bindi on the forehead feels like a whiff of fresh air even today in the archives of her several resplendent looks.

Her inherent style sensibilities came from her mother Maharani Indira Devi of Cooch Behar who very fondly sourced her chiffon sarees customized at the looms of France. These six-yards were customized in dainty pearl embellishments, gota patti work and zardosi work adorning the flimsy chiffon as motifs or borders. Borrowing the rich sensibilities from her mother, she went on to adorn these dreamy sarees as the attire of an Indian royal making it a famous style statement across the globe.

The idea of ‘less is more’ can never become outdated. It is a way of channelling natural charm while accentuating your best features. Offhand ease and classic nuances are the keys to inspire the aura of Rajmata Gayatri Devi and to pull off her timeless look in the present date. A sizeable collection of light sarees in a colour palette of ecru, ivory, old rose pink and dutch blue are perfect to imbibe her royal etherealness into your ethnic looks. Long sleeved blouses are the way to go to perceive the essence of her iconic looks. Pearls and emeralds are eternally beautiful adornments that the royal highness was fond of. Invest in a few single string necklace, pearl chokers and jadau jewels to channel a charismatic fine look. Envision the charming look for special wedding dinners and festive get-togethers to influence second glances for your quaint charming appeal.
