Aisha Rao’s Priyasi Celebrates Love in Every Form at Hyundai India Couture Week 2026

After INTERHANA, Aisha Rao turned her attention to love in all its complexity. Presented at Hyundai India Couture Week 2026, in association with Nexxus New York, an FDCI initiative, Priyasi reimagined timeless love stories through intricate craftsmanship, botanical symbolism, and contemporary couture, unfolding as an immersive theatrical experience.

The collection traced the many expressions of love across history, literature, mythology, and cinema. From Shah Jahan’s enduring devotion and the tragic longing of Salim and Anarkali to the restrained romance of Pride and Prejudice, the sweeping passion of Anna Karenina, and the biblical tale of Adam and Eve, Rao translated these enduring narratives into couture.

Structured around three emotional chapters: Longing, Union, and Remembrance, the collection explored love as an evolving journey rather than a singular emotion. Each chapter was expressed through distinct silhouettes, surface techniques, and artisanal craftsmanship, allowing every garment to embody a different stage of love. Together, they formed a poetic reflection on love’s changing nature, where couture became a medium for memory, desire, and devotion.

The collection unfolded through Aisha Rao’s signature design language of intricate embroideries, polychromatic appliqué, and layered craftsmanship, translated into sculptural silhouettes that balanced archival references with contemporary expression. This season also marked a thoughtful evolution in the house’s approach to purposeful luxury, with the integration of bio-based materials such as bio-resham and bio-badla. Rather than feeling experimental, these innovations seamlessly extended the brand’s existing craft vocabulary, reinforcing its commitment to conscious couture. Botanical motifs, richly textured surfaces, and sculptural forms became recurring visual codes, carrying the collection’s emotional narrative across every look.

At the heart of the installation was the tulip, a flower long associated with love across cultures, which served as the collection’s central symbol. Woven throughout the experience, it became a poetic metaphor for Priyasi, embodying love in its many forms while anchoring the collection’s emotional journey. As the show ended, every model walked the runway holding a tulip, which became one of the most memorable visuals of the night.

The collection reaffirmed Rao’s ability to balance fantasy with wearability, while proving that contemporary couture can be both emotionally resonant and thoughtfully made.
