A One-Way Ticket

‘One-Way Ticket’ by Papa Don’t Preach presented by Pernia’s Pop-Up Studio

On the 4th & 5th of March, Pernia’s Pop-Up Studio hosted a fashion x art installation by ‘Papa Don’t Preach’ by Shubhika at our flagship store in Kala Ghoda. The event gave us lowdown on the most interesting forms of art as installations.

ONE-WAY TICKET is a tale narrated through the eyes of a “curiouser and curiouser” called Alice. As she finds herself in a world unknown, dressed to the nines in Papa Don’t Preach of course; this is a journey experienced through a cacophony of colours, characters and emotions. With a whirlwind of designs and an awe-inspiring atmosphere created, there was a little bit of everything for art and fashion lovers. The store was adorned as a dream voyage with a space full of cotton clouds secret plantations of air scents, a vintage bio-scope, clock passages and more. The air itself was heavy with art and as we walked through the whimsical and contemporary installations, the more magic we found. Going above and beyond we also witnessed the enigmatic Alice, graced in an exquisite Papa Don’t preach outfit.

The elaborate event sparked a renewed sense of the world of art, design and storytelling. We not only experienced the tale of One-way ticket and who Alice is, but also the story of Papa Don’t Preach as a brand and what makes them inspired to create. Fashion is all about personality, and this is exactly what Papa Don’t preach represents. Featuring pop colours and impeccable surface ornamentation, Shubhika’s creations are unique, innovative, and absolutely creative in thinking. Speaking about her brand and inspirations, Shubhika said, “Everyone must be able to embrace their individuality with their style, and this is what she aims for with every collection.”

The brand seamlessly juxtaposes and blends elements from distinct worlds together through the collection and the space created. As the perfect blend of shopping, art installations and design, the mystic event at Pernia’s Pop-Up Studio had everyone spellbound and in high spirits.
