The Best Of New York Fashion Week

For the past few days, New York City has been dominating every headline for the much-anticipated return of its iconic fashion week. The season kicked off on September 6th and concluded on the 11th; the event displayed an exceptional showcase of classics and contemporary selects, but a few stand-out labels offered an innovative take on their latest collection.

The fashion week featured luminary names on the list, including Brandon Maxwell, Michael Kors, Proenza Schouler and Willy Chavarria, alongside welcoming labels like Alaïa and Off-White, who made their spectacular debut this season. Over the course of these days, the show witnessed some high-profile celebrities from various industries who enhanced the grandeur of the occasion.

Each designer brought their distinctive flair to their spring/summer collection, but here is a round-up of labels that incorporated a hearty dose of glamour and timeless classics with their trademark aspects, making an unforgettable presence at the fashion week.

Ralph Lauren

New York Fashion Week opened with a prelude runway show by the esteemed Ralph Lauren. Set against the idealistic backdrop of a horse farm at Bridgehampton, New York, on 5th September, the label weaved a symphony of timeless designs, crescendoing into sartorial brilliance with an understated note of extravagance.

Area

Reaching a milestone of a decade in fashion, the label introduced a line that was a blend of creativity and unconventional flair. By amalgamating traditional aspects of fashion with unique elements like hands, fingerprints, and nameplates, the designer presented a celebration of fashion that embraced individuality.

Alaïa

Pieter Mulier’s vision behind showcasing their collection, “American Beauty”, at the Guggenheim Museum was to encapsulate the very essence of America—its beauty and culture. Through these creations, the creative director spotlighted America’s fashion ethos while maintaining fidelity to the label’s core concepts.

Prabal Gurung

One of the standout moments on the runway was Prabal Gurung’s latest spring/summer 2025 collection. Channelling the vibrant spirits of the Indian festival, Holi, the designer splashed vivid hues across his elegant creations, fusing them with a uniquely graceful touch.

Tommy Hilfiger

Acclaimed for harmonising East Coast classics with West Coast sophistication, Tommy Hilfiger’s latest collection infuses a nautical theme with a lineup that includes oversized jumpers, shirts, blazers, and fine tailoring. The label incorporated fresh elements into their silhouettes that reminded of the blue seas while keeping the brand’s core aesthetics intact.

Ulla Johnson

An eye-catching showcase of colours and art, Ulla Johnson’s runway collection at the fashion week was a graceful display of sartorial excellence. Reflecting the influence of the late abstract painter Lee Krasner, the designer assembled a collection of bold and neutral shades of fluid silhouettes that flawlessly complimented men’s and women’s wardrobes.

Off-White

Known for its established presence at the Paris Fashion Week, the label marked its New York Fashion Week debut with a compelling display that grabbed all the eyeballs. Their collection, Duty-Free, features ensembles that transcend borders, contemplating a fresh interpretation of America and Africa through the prism of sportswear.

Coach

The American brand envisioned a line that resonates with the current generation and seamlessly fits the urban context. By featuring the iconic “I Heart NY” graphics on shirts and sweaters, the label re-imagined street style by incorporating enduring designs with the hallmarks of the bustling city and focusing on modern reverence.

Naeem Khan

The ace designer brought unparalleled glamour and elegance to life with his latest collection, showcased at The Angel Orensanz Foundation. Combining the rich essence of Itlay with a sophisticated colour palette, the label emphasises a relaxed and comfortable approach that makes a dramatic presence, screaming refinement.

Michael Kors

Michael Kors, renowned for his statement luxury bags and watches, displayed a collection that paid an ode to refined Italian elegance and artistry. His collection perfectly illustrated how delicate craftsmanship, like raffia or lace, amalgamates with timeless silhouettes, reinterpreting classic creations with a contemporary flair.
