Runway Report: Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive ’19

Welcoming the new season with a wave of glamour, the starry 5-day extravaganza of Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive ’19 defined the trends that will take over your wardrobe in the coming months. From show-stopping looks to the statements that dominated the runway, Pernia’s Pop-Up Shop gives you a front-row view into the highlights of this season and the trend chart.

Bohemian Brides

Whether you’re tying the knot or leading the baraatis, here’s your bet to get max double taps on Instagram. Bridal couturiers like SVA by Sonam & Paras Modi and Rajdeep Ranawat made case for wedding ensembles with a bohemian vibe. Faraway wedding destinations are perfect to counterbalance the gypsy mood and traditional aesthetics.

Indie Tie & Dye

Making a mega comeback in the summers, tie & dye has settled into the fall season to give you a break from ostentatious embellishments. While Punit Balana’s Rajasthani inspiration manifested lehariyas and bandhani patterns, Urvashi Kaur’s ombre monochromes made a classic statement to appeal to all the minimalists. Invest in chic silhouettes to channel the craft with non-traditional flair.

Culture-Rich Handloom

Day-2 of the event was dedicated to Sustainable Fashion as an ode to 150 years of Mahatma Gandhi and India’s heritage textile- Khadi. Alongside the many handwoven textiles that were put under the spotlight, Urvashi Kaur brought khes fabric from Punjab, detailed Shibori tie-dye from Churu and Maheshwar silks from Madhya Pradesh to define a universal style statement

Bold Layers

Polish your layering skills with bold pieces this season. The statement style was solidified by names like Kshtij Jalori, Diya Rajvvir, Tahweave and many more on the Winter/Festive’19 runway. From your vacation looks to destination weddings, from flowy pieces to sculpted power-dressers, anchor your demure basics with these hero pieces.

Code Red

From bridal repertoire to party staples, shades of red are making it big this season. Both Diya Rajvvir & SVA by Sonam & Paras Modi rendered their cutting edge silhouettes in a fiery colour palette. Experiment with monotones and colour-blocked ensembles in crimson red, deep wine and bright pigments to enrich your natural glow.
