On Spaces with Soul: Taral Jadhav, Do It Up

Taral Jadhav’s instinct for transforming spaces was cultivated long before she found her way into event design. Raised in a home where her mother constantly transformed every new house into a haven for hospitality, she learnt early that interiors could shape how people experience a moment. Though she formally trained as an architect, learning to master scale, movement, and light, her creative instincts would eventually find their canvas in celebrations. “Architecture gave me the formal understanding of space, but I think that early exposure at home gave me the emotional connection to it,” she reflects.

What began in April 2020 as a modest home-decor blog sharing lockdown DIYs quickly spiralled into a phenomenon. After styling content creator Juhi Godambe’s home, a flood of viral DMs transformed her project into Do It Up, a sought-after luxury event-design studio built almost overnight. “I had hundreds of DMs within a day… I was booked for the next two months and had to build a team literally overnight,” Taral recalls.

Taral’s architectural foundation remains her greatest competitive edge, teaching her to map circulation, light, and natural pauses. “Good design isn’t about adding more; it’s about understanding what the space needs,” she notes. At the heart of Do It Up is a philosophy that feels refreshingly personal. “The celebration has to feel like it belongs to the people hosting it,” she says.

As Indian celebrations become increasingly elaborate, she hopes the future is driven less by trends and more by individuality. After all, the gatherings that stay with us are rarely remembered for a single installation or colour palette. “You remember that everything felt thoughtful,” she says. “And I think that’s what makes a gathering memorable.”

“A wedding shouldn’t be completely disassociated from the personality of the people at its centre.”
