The New Wardrobe Staple

There’s nothing more classic than The Blue Shirt-Yes. It’s the ultimate menswear hero! While it might not seem exciting, no one can deny that a blue shirt is the most dependable fashion item. It’s an interesting fact that in the 1800s, men wearing blue shirts were almost unacceptable or unimaginable. It was somewhere during the 1920s and 1980s where the blue shirt really took the centre stage in men’s closets. Since then there’s been no looking back!

Every man owns at least 5 basic blue shirts, kept in their wardrobe for every time they are in a fashion dilemma. Blue shirts are the easiest to style, paired with the right kind of pants they can be casual or formal, and above all, they truly are the comfort blanket for grown-up men.

We’re not here to steer your fashion choice away from the classic blue shirt. In all honesty, its essence is quite understated. However, it’s time to ditch the basic full sleeve, notch collar, plain blue shirt and try something a little more unexpected and fresh. What we want, is for everyone to celebrate the piece.

Designers have done a great job to update the humble piece and give it a stylish makeover. There’s really a wide variety of blue shirts now, so you don’t look like you are wearing a uniform. Look out for blue shirts with unique cuts, tones and shades merged, subtle add-ons, and different types of collars. Where brands like Lacquer Embassy are playing around with patch styles, KOS has shirts with beautiful Ikat prints and other brands like Son of Noble Snob design panelled shirts that give a sartorial look. There’s a new wave of shackets as well, that look absolutely impeccable. These new and upgraded blue shirts that you just throw on and it seems like you’ve put in a lot of effort into your look.
