Abhinav Mishra’s love affair with the craft of Mirror work

The ancient craft of mirror work has a certain timelessness and versatility through which it has found itself in modern designs and the hearts of millennials. The traditional and classic craft has been a part of our culture for many years now, but designers today have succeeded to re-invent and modernise it. Today, mirror work has become an emerging trend in the fashion world and is adored by brides and celebrities. One designer who has done this remarkably is Abhinav Mishra.

Mirror work has been a signature style and a metier for Abhinav Mishra’s eponymous label. Lehengas and Anarkalis that are strewn in mirror work, make up for the most-loved looks from his collections. Blending mirror work with modern silhouettes has created a unique brand identity for the label.  He has managed to use the craft to deconstruct motifs with thread embroidery, gota work and prints. Exploring the versatility of mirror work, Abhinav steers away from incorporating the craft in traditional ways but has given the age-old handcraft a modern outlook by fusing it with contemporary patterns.

Sorbet hues blended with mirror work in patterns inspired by art and architecture, give his collections a contemporary look, perfect for every bridesmaid and has definitely earned a spot in every bridal trousseau.
