5 Ways To Give Your Home A Refresh.

Our ability to relax, maintain a calm mind while staying motivated too is primarily down to the environment we’re in. If there’s one thing the pandemic has taught us, it’s to think about our home decor and respect it as a sacred space. It has become increasingly important to create a multifunctional space that can seamlessly allow us to juggle between our work, family time & relaxation. It is only within the walls of our home, where we will spend most of our time working, exercising, entertaining our selves our loved one & rejuvenating and all this without feeling confined. And when it comes to the layout and decor, while you might think that it’s all about convenience, your space should actually inspire you and boost your mood.

For most of us, giving our home a makeover and creating the space we would love to spend time in just never fit in our busy schedules. Well, now is the time to get your house in order, redecorate. We know this sounds daunting, but it’s really the small details that make all the difference. Below we list five ways along with some tips & tricks that will instantly give your humble abode a fresh and new look.

1. Add some greenery.

As humans, we are all drawn to nature and the serene emerald shades, but we often tend to underestimate the power of plants in our homes. It’s a great way to bring some of the outdoor, indoor. Plants and flowers have a really unique way to add some colour & liven up spaces. The benefits of house plants are not limited to make your home look beautiful and feel cosy, but they also purify the air. And when you watch a plant thrive after giving it love and care, it’s a delightfully rewarding feeling. Trust us!

Here’s are some of our favourite planters and vases, that will not just be a wonderful home to your plant, but will also add some character to your decor. Go ahead and pop up a plant in every room!

 2. Create a cosy corner.

Firstly, find your favourite corner in your home. This can be anywhere- your bedroom, living room, or even your balcony or terrace. Just make sure it’s bright and doesn’t get too noisy. Now comes the fun part. Add a rug or a carpet, some colourful cushions and pillows, a throw blanket, a couple of nesting tables, and maybe even some fairy light. This is your sacred space! So whether you want to find some me-time, or just want to hang out with friends and family in a cosy setting, you have a charming space for it.

Quick tip: Store some books, face masks and music in the corner, and layout some snack trays, so you always have everything you need to relax right there.

3. Balance out the lighting.

When it comes to creating the perfect atmosphere in your home, lighting is key. The lighting you choose can make or break the ambience. You want to think about the different sources and tones of lighting that would benefit the area. While your work desk or ‘makeshift dining table turned work desk’, needs to be lit up perfectly, your reading corner could do with soft and warm tones of light. With a mix of lighting, your home can feel cosier. Opt for unique overhead fixtures, but also fill your corners with lampshades that represent your interior styles and place some candles around the house. This will all bring together the different spaces of your home, and you will always have ‘mood lighting’.

4. Display some pretty.

You don’t want your home to look & feel cluttered, but at the same time, you don’t want it to look like a blank canvas either. A smart way to decorate your home and make it yours is to think about the small pieces. It’s time you play curator and find picture frames or figurines to place around your house. This will ensure to enhance the narrative of your home, give your space some character and personality, but these decorative pieces can also be great conversation starters.

5. Scent your home.

You’ve got your home decor perfected, your multifunctional spaces ready, the perfect lighting too, so it’s time to think about the aroma. Fragrances have a way to tingle our feelings and create a relaxing and happy mood. Scented candles in gorgeous candle holders and diffusers do the trick while also making your home look chic and stylish and feel inviting. You can also have a decorative home perfume kept around so that you can spray the air anytime. Go ahead, light a candle, it only makes scents!

We hope we inspired you to give your home a refresh and play around to customise your space according to your schedule and taste. We promise you these low-effort steps will definitely have a high-impact on your home. And no matter what your interior style may be, Pernia’s Pop-Up Shop has something for your home.
