Listen Up: Fashion Podcast on our playlist

2019 was clearly the year; the business of podcasts was on the rise. With roots dating back to 1980s, it’s not a new concept, but the gift of gab was profoundly regarded this decade. From crime thrillers to educational podcasts, they have all found their space to fill our days. So there’s no surprise we went looking for podcasts by fashion insiders, brands, publications and bloggers.

From presenting us with a glimpse into what goes on behind the scenes, to giving us insight about careers in the fashion industry; these podcasts have us hooked. Since we spent most of 2019 listening to almost every fashion podcast out there, it’s not quite possible to list them all. But these are the ones that top our list and should be on yours too.

THE BUSINESS OF FASHION

We’ve all known The Business of Fashion by Imran Ahmed as a go-to bible for all things fashion served with the understanding of commerce. The podcast is just that and much more. Looking at fashion from every aspect with the central focus on culture, they interview the people who shape the industry. For those who love fashion and are keen on understanding the business side of the industry, this is the ultimate podcast.

OH BOY BY MAN REPELLER

When Leandra Medine founded her fashion blog ‘Man Repeller’, she instantly had our attention with her quirky style and witty attitude. Much like her approach to the blog, the podcast ‘Oh Boy’ completely aligns with the idea that interest in fashion doesn’t minimise one’s intellect. Hosted by Jay Buim, the podcast interviews cool and edgy women who talk about their life, work and of course, how fashion influences their world.

GIRLBOSS RADIO

In true Nasty Gal style, this podcast by Sophia Amoruso is intelligent, inspiring yet hilarious. Featuring established women in their respective fields. The conversations tackle subjects like success in business and life, marketing, womanhood, confidence and more with utmost style and humour. This is a podcast every woman must listen to feel inspired to conquer the world.

FASHION NO FILTER

With intimate and casual conversations, Influencer Camille Charriere and journalist Monica Ainley team up with fashion insiders to change the superficial outlook associated with the fashion world. We love how the podcast seamlessly lends the listeners with behind the scenes anecdotes while always being relevant to the times. From questioning what men really think of fashion and Instagram’s role in the industry to discussing trends and style icons, this podcast is a delight to listen.

THE BARNEY’S PODCAST

Whether you’re into fashion or not, this podcast will have you instantly hooked. The deeply personal podcast tells us stories of people who have dedicated their lives to the world of fashion, style and design. With tales told by Rick Owens and Jonathan Adler, The Barney’s Podcast is a true celebration of the creative industry.

THE HIGH LOW

Presented by fashion journalists Dolly Alderton and Pandora Sykes, The High Low Podcast talks about everything including pop culture, politics, literature, art and film. The witty duo doesn’t apologise for their privilege; they wear their heart on their sleeve and speak without and inhibitions. Morphing the serious with trivial, they have a knack to instantly charm listeners.
