London Fashion Week Went Full Metal, and We’re Obsessed

There’s a certain kind of silence before a show begins – not the absence of sound, but the hush of anticipation. Flashbulbs, whispers, and a soft heel clacking against the concrete. Then, the lights hit the runway, and everything changes. That confluence created an electric moment, setting the tone for London Fashion Week 2025.

From eclectic streetwear to bold runway statements, fashion in London continues to blur the lines between tradition and rebellion, heritage and innovation. Yet amidst this kaleidoscope of expression, one trend caught the light and refused to let go.

Metallics shimmered as the season’s most show-stopping trend, from glimmering ensembles that turned every head to accessories seemingly plucked from a futuristic fantasy. The lustre wasn’t confined to fabrics; it danced through every accessory and accent. Metallics have long transcended fleeting trends, asserting their power through continuous reinvention season after season.  Always returning with renewed brilliance, metallics transform endlessly,  from bold statement pieces to subtle accents, solidifying its status as a dynamic force on runways worldwide.

Here’s how some of the standout designers brought their unique take on the trend to life at London Fashion Week 2025:

Anamika Khanna

One of the most compelling moments this season came from Anamika Khanna, who marked her debut at London Fashion Week with her label AKOK. Known for redefining Indian couture through a contemporary lens, Khanna presented a collection that felt like a cultural shift – a bold exploration of metal, movement, and modern identity.

Metallics weren’t just an accent; they set the tone. From sculptural bralettes and dramatic skirts to chainmail-inspired finishes, each look blurred the line between fashion and futuristic armour. One standout ensemble featured a model in a silver-streaked bandeau top, a gridded metallic wrap skirt, and matching boots – raw, fluid, and unapologetically modern. Another look paired high-shine tweed-effect separates with a floor-grazing coat and shimmering durag, merging street energy with structured polish.

Khanna pushed the metallic narrative further with bold accessories, most notably, dramatic waist chains styled over crisp blazers, turning jewellery into a statement of strength. Her use of antique silver, gold tones, and industrial textures reimagined Indian craftsmanship with an urban edge, grounding her global debut in heritage and rebellion.

Dilara Findikoglu

A show that blurred the sacred and the subversive, Dilara Findikoglu’s “Cage of Innocence” was a raw exploration of womanhood, freedom, and inherited restraint. Metallics here weren’t just used to dazzle; they were used to disrupt.

Models’ faces were masked in glinting silver, less an adornment and more like armour – a bold, unapologetic shield. Every detail felt both ceremonial and defiant: veils of chainmail cascaded over faces, bejewelled foreheads glowed, and metallic eyebrow embellishments added an edge of futuristic ritual. Sculptural earpieces and headgears echoed ancient relics, hinting at the weight of cultural inheritance and the silent codes women are still expected to carry.

Even the footwear carried an unexpected story, its silver chains and metal details jangling with symbolism.  With this showcase, Findikoglu turned metal into mythology and fashion into protest.

Labrum London

In contrast to Khanna’s force and the rebellious persona of Findikoglu, Labrum London’s “Osmosis” presented a quieter, almost poetic take on the metallic trend. But don’t mistake subtlety for softness. The label integrated golden metal flowers across the collection – pinned to collars, draped as waist chains, and worn as brooches. These delicate blossoms shimmered against structured tailoring, creating a graceful contrast between metal and movement.

One of the most striking details? Models adorned with metallic spheres scattered across their lips like constellations and bubble-like forms tracing their faces, symbolising the continuous cycle of osmosis. It was intimate, unexpected, and deeply symbolic.

Completed Works

At London Fashion Week 2025, metallics extended beyond silhouettes and jewellery worn on the body. In Completed Works’ showcase, they appeared in sculptural forms, bags, and objects that blurred the line between movement and stillness. This idea came to life through two standout pieces by Completed Works.

First, a matte gold statement bag –striking in its restraint, it offered a quieter kind of luxury. More than an accessory, it became a sculptural anchor. Then came the unexpected: a gold metallic flower, complete with a stem. Delicate yet sculpted, it echoed nature through the lens of metalwork. Together, these pieces embodied the essence of the metallic trend this season: emotional, elegant, enduring.

Chopova Lowena

In Chopova Lowena’s Cheerlore collection, metallics weren’t the centrepiece, but were undoubtedly part of the narrative. From chunky belt buckles to bag charms and dangling jewellery, with gleam woven into the very construction of each look. The aesthetic? Think high school spirit, but flipped. With hints of Y2K, it was playful, nostalgic, unmistakably bold, and undeniably cool.

Metal became part of the choreography. As models moved, pieces clinked, swayed, and shimmered, making the metallics feel alive – more like extensions of the wearer than simple accessories. Gold and silver belts cinched dresses, while charms and chains adorned bags and skirts, adding both noise and narrative. Necklaces, earrings, and even hair clips came in hard metal forms, equal parts punk and edgy.  Nothing felt delicate or ornamental. Instead, the metallics at Chopova were practical yet playful anchors to the brand’s rebellious, layered aesthetic.

This season,  metallics beyond fleeting sparkle to emerge as a defining motif – woven through fabrics, accessories, and intricate details that brought both undeniable charm and refinement to every look. From sculptural, armour-like finishes to subtle shimmering accents, the trend disrupted expectations and told a story of strength, heritage, and innovation. More than mere decoration, metallics embodied fashion’s power to express identity, gleaming brilliantly across the runways of London Fashion Week 2025.
