FL: What brought you into the world of fashion? Take us to where it all began.

DV: Since childhood, I was invariably exposed to tailoring and art. Our family business of bespoke men’s tailoring was started by my grandfather in the 1940s by the name Vaish Bros, and the legacy was taken forward by my father. I grew up watching them dressing up the gentlemen in fashionable outfits of the times. Thanks to my mother, I was also exposed to a lot of art and creativity at a very early age. So fashion, for me, was a natural amalgamation of what I understood and liked.

FL: How do you describe Dhruv Vaish as a brand?

DV: Dhruv Vaish is a contemporary menswear brand that constantly pushes the boundaries to redefine modern menswear with continuous innovation in cuts, silhouettes, and fabrics. We combine the highest quality of tailoring with cutting-edge designs to create garments which are timeless and trendsetting at the same time.

FL: How do you think the Indian fashionscape for menswear has changed in the last ten years?

DV: I think men’s fashion has changed drastically in the last 10 years, from stereotypical dressing to a lot more adventurous approach. Wedding attire has also changed from just a classic suit to innovative outfits and from basic dinner blazers to some experimental bomber jackets, and a lot more. More men across all age groups are putting in a lot more effort and time to look their best.

FL: How would you describe your journey in the industry so far?

DV: I had a great start in the Indian fashion industry, working for Rohit Bal. I got tremendous exposure to the best of the industry. Launching my own label back in 2010 was never easy, especially with limited social media at that time. But gradually, with consistently churning out great collections year after year, we can proudly say we have a very strong loyal customer base.
